Privacy Policy
Effective date: 19 October 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Safe QR Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (“we”, “us” or “our”) handles personal data when you use the Safe QRs app, QR codes and stickers, scan pages, SOS and safety timer, family alerts, private internet calls, and store. We aim to collect only information reasonably needed to provide, secure and improve these Services.
Please read this policy with our Terms & Conditions and Account & Data Deletion Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, do not use features that require the relevant personal data.
2. Information we may process
Account and contact information: mobile number, email address, account identifiers, names or labels you choose to enter, and authentication or verification information.
QR and sticker information: QR/sticker identifier, activation status, secret-code verification data, item category (for example, car, bike, child, pet or bag), owner-written public message, and settings for whether alerts go to the owner alone or the owner and family.
Family and alert information: invited contacts’ details, invitation and verification status, alert recipients, alert type, reason selected by a scanner, message or note submitted by a scanner, delivery status, and timestamps.
Location information: approximate or precise device location when you or a person scanning a QR grants permission and activates a feature that uses location, such as SOS or an alert. Location is not intended to be collected merely because a QR page is opened; the page may request it when the user chooses an action that needs it.
Call and device information: call initiation and status data, call duration or connection diagnostics, device and app version, operating system, technical logs, IP/network information where processed by the service, and notification tokens needed to deliver alerts or calls.
Orders and payments: delivery name and address, order contents, price, order status, payment reference/UTR supplied by you, and payment verification records. We do not ask for your UPI PIN, banking password or card PIN.
Support and safety information: messages you send to support and information reasonably needed to investigate security incidents, abuse, failed alerts or service errors.
3. How we use information
We use information to create and manage accounts; activate and manage QR codes and stickers; show the message chosen by the owner; route alerts to the owner and verified family contacts; enable internet calls; operate SOS and safety timers; process orders and verify payments; arrange shipping; provide support; troubleshoot, secure and improve the Services; prevent fraud and misuse; maintain backups and audit records; and comply with legal obligations.
We may use service metrics and aggregated or de-identified information to understand reliability and improve the app. We will not intentionally use contact or location data for unrelated purposes without a lawful basis and any consent required by law.
4. What a QR scanner can see
The scan page is designed not to reveal the owner’s personal name, phone number or home address. It may display the owner’s public message, the type or label of the QR/sticker, and actions such as alerting family or calling the owner. If a scanner chooses to submit an alert and grants location permission, relevant location information may be shared with the alert recipients as described on the screen.
Do not include sensitive personal information in the public QR message. We cannot guarantee that a QR code will not be photographed, copied or shared by someone who can access it.
5. Permissions and choice
Location permission is relevant to location-enabled alerts and SOS. Microphone permission is needed for internet calls. Notifications are needed for timely alerts and call ringing, especially when the app is not open. If you deny or later revoke a permission, the associated feature may be limited or may not work.
You can manage permissions in your device settings. You may also stop using a feature, edit QR settings, remove family contacts where the app allows, or request account/data deletion under the deletion policy.
6. Sharing and service providers
We do not sell personal data as a commercial data-broker product. We may disclose data to service providers that help us host and operate the database and servers, deliver email or notifications, enable internet calls, process payments, ship products, provide customer support, or protect against fraud and security threats. They should receive only the information reasonably needed for their function and be subject to appropriate contractual or legal protections.
We may disclose information where required by law, valid legal process, to protect users or the public from serious harm, to investigate suspected fraud or security incidents, or in connection with a business restructuring, subject to applicable law and safeguards. Where legally permitted and appropriate, we will seek to limit the disclosure.
7. Security
We use technical and organisational measures intended to protect data, including encryption for certain sensitive fields, access controls, request validation, security logging and backups. No system or transmission method can be guaranteed perfectly secure. Please keep your device secure, protect sticker secret codes and report suspected unauthorised access to support@safeqrs.com.
8. Retention
We automatically delete scan records after 180 days, location records after 60 days and photos after 7 days, where those data types are collected. Deleted records may remain in backups for a limited period until those backups are overwritten or securely removed.
We may retain account, order, payment, security, consent and complaint records for longer where reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy or required by law. Backups may retain deleted data for a limited additional period before being overwritten or securely removed. We will review retention periods periodically and avoid retaining identifiable data longer than necessary.
9. Your rights and requests
Depending on applicable law, you may be able to request access to information about your personal data, correction or updating, erasure, withdrawal of consent where processing relies on consent, or raise a grievance. Some requests may be limited where we must retain information to comply with law, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or protect another person’s rights.
To make a privacy request, contact support@safeqrs.com with the subject “Privacy Request”. We may ask for reasonable information to verify your identity and protect the account from unauthorised changes. Do not email passwords, UPI PINs or other authentication secrets.
10. Children’s data
The Services may involve QR codes used on a child’s bag or belongings, but an adult account holder should configure and manage those QR codes and family contacts. Do not submit a child’s personal data unless you are the parent, guardian or otherwise legally authorised to do so. We will handle children’s personal data in accordance with applicable law, including any required parental consent and safeguards.
11. International processing and third-party links
Depending on our hosting and service providers, information may be processed in India or other jurisdictions. We will apply safeguards required by applicable law. The app or QR pages may link to third-party services; their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, which you should review.
12. Changes and grievance contact
We may update this policy by publishing a revised version in the app or at safeqrs.com. The effective date appears at the top of the published policy.
In an emergency, always call 112 first.
